SCHMIDT CATTLE COMPANY is owned by Keith, Sara, Erick, and Travis Schmidt, breeders of registered Hereford and Shorthorn cattle.  We started in the seed stock industry over 5 years ago due to Erick’s passion for Hereford cattle. At the conclusion of Erick's first year of showing, Travis expressed a desire to show cattle. When Travis was searching for his first show heifer and looking at the different breeds of cattle, there was something about those fancy solid white Shorthorns that got him hooked on the Shorthorn breed. We bought our shorthorns from Gary and Kathy Buchholz and so began a continued partnership with Schmidt Cattle and GKB Cattle Company.

Drawing on two lifetimes of experience, they have positioned their ranch, GKB Cattle Company, at the forefront of the industry. Gary and Kathy with their many years of experience in the show cattle industry, have been a huge part in our success in the show ring as well as the development of our cow herds. The majority of our Hereford program was built around genetics acquired from GKB, Colyers, Barbers, and Rocking Chair Ranch. Our Hereford cows are based on proven genetics that offer us the traits needed to create top quality, functional cattle.
